    The Color Network Printer Board-A1 is a special-purpose color server Preface built into the Canon iR C2100/C2100S series. It enables you to use your copier/printer as a high-speed, networked color printer. You can use the Color Network Printer Board-A1 to print final documents or to proof jobs you will later print on an offset press.

Confirm that the system administrator has completed Setup, as described in the Configuration Guide. 2. Find out what printer defaults the administrator specified in Setup.     1-1 Printing from applications This chapter describes printing to the iR C2100/2100S from Chapter 1: Windows 95/98,Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000.     1-2 Printing from Windows Computers Setting options and printing from Windows 95/98 To print from Windows 95/98, use the Adobe PostScript printer driver for Windows 95/98. The driver is included with the iR C2100/2100S user software. Once you have installed the Adobe PostScript printer driver and the PPD file, you can specify print settings for a particular job and print it to the iR C2100/2100S.

The administrator or operator can edit the group name from the Command WorkStation Properties window. —Enter the password specified for your group. If you are using the PostScript driver, configure the options from the Paper Source, Destination, Layout, Finishing, Watermarks, ColorWise, Image Quality, and Owner Information print option bars.

The file name must include the .sav extension and can be up to eight characters long (not including the extension). The file name does not have to match the Settings Name.

Once you have installed the printer driver and the PPD file, you can specify print options.

Printing to the parallel port The iR C2100/2100S has a parallel port that enables you to print most files directly from a Windows computer if your network administrator has connected the Windows computer’s parallel port to the iR C2100/2100S parallel port.

    1-28 Printing from Windows Computers Printing with Fiery Downloader Downloading files with Fiery Downloader is generally faster than printing from application software. You can use Fiery Downloader to print PostScript, EPS, or PDF files. O PRINT USING IERY OWNLOADER 1. Create a PostScript, EPS, or PDF file. Specify the appropriate print options and include (embed) any necessary fonts that are not resident on the iR C2100/2100S.

For details on specific print options, see Appendix A. Some default print options are set by the administrator during Setup.

Make sure the iR C2100/2100S is selected as your printer and specify settings for the print options displayed. Print dialog boxes vary across applications. From the Paper Source pop-up menu, choose the paper tray for the job. For example, you can specify that the job should be printed on paper in Drawer 1.

Jobs sent Secured Print to the iR C2100/2100S using the Secured Print feature can only be printed when the job’s identification number is entered at the Control Panel. Secured Print jobs cannot be viewed in the spool areas of in Fiery Spooler, Fiery WebSpooler, or Command WorkStation, however, they do appear in the Job Log.

Black Overprint When printing black text in combination with a color background or graphics, the text can be printed in one of two ways: either as part of the color background, or on top of the color background.
