PCI Card Mounting Rules for the
SPARC M12-1
This chapter describes the maximum number of each type of mounted PCI card and
the rules for mounting PCI cards in PCI slots when mounting PCI cards in the
SPARC M12-1.
Be sure to observe these mounting rules when designing the system and when
expanding PCI cards or changing the mounting location of a PCI card.

Domain OS

The maximum number of each type of mounted PCI card and the available PCI slots
vary depending on the version of Oracle Solaris installed on the domain.
Oracle Solaris 11:

The OS versions on the control domain, root domain, and I/O domain are all
Oracle Solaris 11.
Oracle Solaris 10:
■
The OS versions on the control domain, root domain, and I/O domain are all
Oracle Solaris 10 or a mixture of Oracle Solaris 11 and Oracle Solaris 10.
If Oracle Solaris versions are mixed in your environment, apply the rules for
Oracle Solaris 10.
