dustrial PC System
This section describes how to back up and recover the Industrial PC system.
You can use the Rescue Disk Utility for backing up and recovery.

Outline of Rescue Disk Utility

The Rescue Disk Utility is a tool used to back up and recover data of Windows and Real-Time OS
(Controller function) of the Industrial PC. The Rescue Disk Utility creates image files of HDD or SSS of
the Industrial PC, and backs them up in a USB memory or other USB storage devices such as an ex-
ternal hard disk connected via USB. When Windows or Real-Time OS of the Industrial PC malfunc-
tions, you can recover the Industrial PC with the backed up data.
Precautions for Correct Use
• You can start the Rescue Disk Utility from the USB storage device. To use the Rescue Disk
Utility, you must prepare an empty USB storage device. Refer to 7-1-3 Preparing the Rescue
Disk Utility on page 7 - 2 for details.
• The backup data in the Rescue Disk Utility can be used only to recover the Industrial PC from
which you backed up the data. You cannot use the data to recover other Industrial PCs.

Applicable Range of Backup Functions with the Rescue Disk Util-
ity
The range of the Industrial PC system from which you can back up data with the Rescue Disk Utility is
given below.
In a backup process, all data in the applicable range is backed up in a single backup file.
In a recovery process, you can select data to restore.

Preparing the Rescue Disk Utility

Preparation required for backing up data with the Rescue Disk Utility is given below.
Media Required for Backup
To use the Rescue Disk Utility, you must prepare a USB storage device with the following capacity.
• Capacity of Windows partition of the Industrial PC to be backed up + 16 GB
For example, if you back up an Industrial PC which has the 200 GB Windows partition, you need a
USB storage device of 216 GB or greater capacity.
