BEFORE USING
Check the following points before using the LA-3500:
• Befo re turning on the power
Be sure the POWER button is off when connecting or
disconnecting con nection co rd s. Check again th at all connec-
lions are proper and that !her e are no problems with the
co nnecti on co rd s.
• M ov ing th e set
Remove discs before moving the set To prevent short -
ci rcu iting or damage to connection cords, always unplug the
power cord and d i sconnect all cords connectin g the LA-3500 to
other audio componen t s before moving the set.
Keep these opera ting instructions
After reading these opera t ing instructions, store them in a safe
p lace along with the warranty . A lso fill in 1he necessary 11 ems
on the back cover for future reference .
LO players u se sem iconductor lasers. To ensure stable opera-
tion, !he player should be used at a room temperature
between
5"C (41 °F)
and
35"C (95"' F).
The illustrations used for ex planat ions in 1hese instructions
may differ slightly from the actual set.
• Wait until "STANDBY " appears on the displ ay befo re unplug-
ging the power cord.

Be sure to read this section before using the LA-3500.
If
stripes appear on the TV scree n
Depending on the reception conditi ons of TV programs, stripes
may appea r on the TV screen when watching a progr am wi t h 1he
player's power turned on. This is not a ma lfun ction of lh e player
or
TV.
Tu rn off the player's powe1 when watching TV programs .
Conden sation
Condensation or dew may form on the ope ration sections or lens
if the player is brought into a warm room from the cold ou tdoors
or if the temperature in the room Increases sudden ly . If 1his
happens, the laser beam w ill not be able to read signals and discs
will not play. Depending on how heavy the dew is, leave the
powe r on for one or two hours to let the player ge t accustomed to
th e temperature in the room . Th e dew will evapo rat e and
playback wi ll be possible.
Dew may also form in the summe r if the player is exposed to th e
direct ai rfl ow from an air condi ti oner . If so,

Cleaning
Fingerprin ts and dirt do not directly affect the signa ls recorded on
the d isc, bu l may reduce the ligh t reflected from the signal surfa ce
and red uce the sou nd or pictu re quality . Clean the disc if it is dirty.
To clean a disc. apply some water to a soh clot h, wring out well ,
wipe off the d irt, then wipe the disc with
a
dry cloth . Wipe th e disc
from the inner side towards the outer side.
