DIGITAL OUT Jacks (OPTICAL, COAXIAL) Use either an optical or coaxial digital cable (commercially available) to connect to an AV amplifier with a built-in decoder (AV control centre). 2.     CONNECTIONS The following shows examples of connections commonly used to connect the DVD player to TV and other com- ponents. If using this DVD player to play back a DVD in a Dolby Digital Multi-channel surround or DTS surround format, the DVD player outputs a Dolby Digital or DTS data stream from its OPTICAL or COAXIAL DIGITAL OUT jacks.

    DISC PLAYBACK DivX ® Playback This DVD player can play back DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW discs recorded in DivX ® format. When a DVD-R/RW or CD- R/RW with DivX ® files is inserted in the DVD player, the file list will appear automatically on the TV screen. The number of tracks will be also displayed on the front panel.

    DISC PLAYBACK Press the DISPLAY button during playback. • Current file name will be dis- played. Press the DISPLAY button again. • Current track number/total tracks and elapsed time (MP3 and DivX ® ) will be displayed. • Current repeat setting appears only when the Repeat setting is active.

    DISC PLAYBACK NOTES: • Some discs allow the Subtitle Language setting on the disc menu. (Operation varies among discs. Refer to the manual accompanying the disc.) • Pressing the SUBTITLE button may not work on some DVDs with multiple subtitle languages (e.g. DVDs which allow the Subtitle Language setting on the disc menu).

    DVD SETUP In setup menu, QUICK mode, CUSTOM mode and INITIALIZE mode are available (refer to pages 29-34). QUICK mode consists of items of which the setting menus are frequently used, and they are accompanied with QUICK mark. You can make all settings in CUSTOM mode. Language Setting Language setting can be varied with some DVDs or DivX Subtitles recorded in discs.

    DVD SETUP PROG.MODE (Default: AUTO1) • Press the Cursor buttons (K or L) to select a mode for the progressive scan output, then press the ENTER button. • AUTO1: mode suitable for images on the film material. • AUTO2: mode for images on the material of 30-frame film.

    DVD SETUP BASS ENHANCER (Default: OFF) • Set to ON for sound output on the bass-woofer channel when 2- channel audio source is played back. • This function is effective only for the 5.1ch AUDIO OUT jacks. Set the AUDIO MODE to ANALOG and ANALOG AUDIO to MULTI CHANNEL to set this function.

    DVD SETUP FRONT(L/R), CENTER, SURROUND(L/R) (Default: 3.6m) FRONT(L/R): The distance can be set within the range of 0 to 18.0m. CENTER, SURROUND: These depend on the setting value of FRONT(L/R). NOTES: • It is not possible to adjust this item if CENTER and SUR- ROUND have been set to NONE in the Speaker Configuration set- ting.

    DVD SETUP Reset to the Default Settings This allows you to return all selections of SETUP (except for RATINGS and VIDEO OUT) to their default settings. Press the SETUP button in stop mode. Press the Cursor buttons (s or B) to select INITIALIZE, then press the ENTER button. Press the Cursor buttons (K or L) to select YES, then press the ENTER button.
