Component replacement procedures

NOTE:

This chapter provides removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider only parts.
There are as many as 47 screws that must be removed, replaced, or loosened when servicing
Authorized Service Provider only parts. Make special note of each screw size and location during
removal and replacement.

Top cover

NOTE:
All top cover spare part kits include a touchpad.
Description
Top cover for use in models with a fingerprint reader (includes touchpad)
Top cover for use in models without a fingerprint reader (includes touchpad)
Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
