Description
Heat sink for discrete graphics memory
Before removing the heat sink for discrete graphics memory, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the following components:
a.
Battery (see
b.
Optical drive (see
c.
Base enclosure (see
d.
Hard drive (see
e.
SSD (see
f.
Disconnect the WLAN cable (see
g.
Remove the fan (see
Remove the heat sink for discrete graphics memory:
1.
Following the sequence stamped into the heat sink, remove the six Phillips M2.0x4 screws (1) and then
carefully lift the heat sink (2) to remove it from the system board.
NOTE:
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach it.
