GEARSHIFT LEVER

This motorcycle has a 5-speed trans-
mission which operates as shown. To
shift properly, squeeze the clutch
lever and close the throttle at the
same time you operate the gearshift
lever. Lift the front end of the gear
shift lever to upshift. Depress the front
end of the gearshift lever to downshift.
Neutral is located between 1st and
2nd gear. When neutral is desired,
depress or lift the lever halfway
between 1st and 2nd gear.
NOTE: When the transmission is in
neutral, the green indicator light on
the instrument panel will be lit. How-
ever, even though the light is illumi-
nated, cautiously and slowly release
the clutch lever to make sure that the
transmission is positively in neutral.
Reduce your road speed before
down-shifting. When down-shifting,
the engine speed
increased before
engaged. This will prevent unneces-
sary wear on the drive train compo-
nents and rear tire.

REAR BRAKE PEDAL

Depressing the rear brake pedal will
apply the rear brake. The brake light
will come on when the rear brake is
operated.
