Introduction

Congratulations on becoming the owner of a Paradyne modem.

Models

This manual describes three models:
Model 6210 – is set in the factory to run in bridge mode. It does not have any router functions. It supports
ADSL.
Model 6211 – is set in the factory to run in router mode. It supports ADSL.
Model 6381 – may be set by you to run in bridge or router mode. It supports ADSL/R.

Connects multiple PCs to the Internet with just one WAN IP Address (when configured in router mode with
NAT enabled)
Configurable through user-friendly web interface
Supports single-session IPSec and PPTP passthrough for Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Several popular games are already pre-configured. Just enable the game and the port settings are
automatically configured.
Configurable as a DHCP Server on your network
Compatible with virtually all standard Internet applications
Address filtering and DMZ hosting
Simple web based status page displays a snapshot of your system configuration, and links to the
configuration pages

A bridge is a device that forwards any message from one part of a
network to another. The Model 6210 is a bridge.
A router is a device that forwards messages according to their network
addresses. The Model 6211 is a router.
ADSL
is Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, a version of DSL that
allows a higher speed for information coming from the Internet to your
PC ("downstream") than it does for information going to the Internet
from your PC ("upstream").
ADSL/R
is technology that combines ADSL and ReachDSL in one
device.
ReachDSL
is a version of DSL that works on lines too long or
too noisy for ADSL.
