Change the fuel pickup body every year
Drain the fuel tank.
N
Use a hook to pull the fuel pickup
N
body out of the fuel tank and take it
off the hose.
Push the new fuel pickup body into
N
the hose.
Place the fuel pickup body in the
N
fuel tank.

Starting / Stopping the
Engine
Observe safety precautions – see
N
chapter on "Safety Precautions and
Working Techniques".
Press down the interlock lever (1)
N
and squeeze the throttle trigger (2) –
hold both levers in that position.
Move the slide control (3) to START
N
and hold it there.
Let go of the interlock lever, throttle
N
trigger and slide control. This is the
starting throttle position.
Set the choke lever (4):
N
g if the engine is cold.
e for warm start – also use this posi -
tion if the engine has been running
but is still cold.
Press the fuel pump bulb at least
N
five times – even if the bulb is filled
with fuel.
Cranking
Place the unit on the ground.
N
Remove the blade scabbard. Check
N
that the cutting blades are not
touching the ground or any other
obstacles.
Make sure you have a firm footing.
N
Hold the unit firmly with your left
N
hand on the fan housing and press
down.
Pull the starter grip slowly with your
N
right hand until you feel it engage
and then give it a brisk strong pull.
