Starting play from a selected item

Press the numbered buttons.

≥This may not work with some discs.
≥This works only when stopped with some
discs (the screen saver is on the television).
≥A group ([DVD-A]) or title ([DVD-V]) number
can be specified while the screen saver is
displayed.

Playing bonus groups [DVD-A]
Some discs contain bonus groups. If a password screen appears
after selecting a group, enter the password with the numbered
buttons and press [ENTER]. Refer also to the disc's jacket.

Position Memory

(Effective only when the elapsed play time is displayed)
You can start play from a memorized position even after turning the
unit off.

During play
Press [SHIFT]r[P.MEMORY].
The message "Position Memorized" appears on the television.

After switching the unit to standby and back on
Press [1] (PLAY).
Play starts from the memorized position. (The position is
cleared.)

≥The positions remain memorized even after the disc tray is opened.
≥You cannot mark positions if the disc is write-protected.

Changing audio

To change the audio
Press [SHIFT]r[AUDIO].
∫ While receiving a TV programme with Stereo
When receiving a TV programme with the Stereo, Bilingual or
NICAM sound system, the type of sound system in which it is
broadcast is automatically indicated.
e.g.: "NICAM" is selected
≥If "NICAM OFF" is selected during manual tuning ( page 55),
"MONO" is always displayed.
∫ While playing DVD-RAM or Video CD

For your reference
You can change the audio for the images being played with
simultaneous rec and play and Time Slip. [RAM]
∫ While playing DVD-Audio or DVD-Video
You can change the audio channel number each time you press the
buttons. This allows you to change things like the soundtrack
language.

≥It will not be possible to alter the sound in the following cases:
–When a DVD-R is in the disc tray.
–When recording mode is XP and "LPCM" has been selected in
the Sound menu, "Audio Mode for XP Recording" ( page 53).
≥When recording a bilingual television broadcast to DVD-R or
recording using LPCM, you cannot change the audio type. The
audio selected for recording is played.
