7.2.3 TROUBLESHOOTING

¶ MD does not Operate
MD may not operate if the objective lens of the Light Pickup is soiled. Clean the objective lens, then check playback operation. If the
symptom still persists, check the points according to the flowchart below.
If dust or foreign matter has deposited on the Pickup Lens, the system may skip tracks or may not display TOC (content of song titles).
Confirm that the lens is clean before making adjustment. If the lens is soiled, perform as follows:
Switch the power of the unit OFF. Apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the lens cleaning paper and clean
the lens carefully. Be careful not to damage the lens. Do not touch the lens directly with your hand.
By pressing the power button on the remote control or
on the receiver unit, can you turn the MD unit power ON
and obtain a normal display on the MD LCD?
Is disc loaded correctly?
Does the system play back when the MD PLAY/PAUSE
button is pressed?
Is audio output correct?

When disc is inserted, the power turn ON?
Is +5 – +6V supplied to Pins 15 and 16 of CN1902?
Are pulses supplied to Pin 5 of CN1902 when the reset
power turned ON?
Is Pin 62 of IC1401 set to +3.2V?
Is a pulse of 8.4672MHz applied to Pin 15 of IC1401?

Are pulses output from Pin 34 of IC1401?

Check CN1902 and the substrate of the MD MAIN PCB
Assy.
