Chapter 6. DR550 Storage Controller

This section provides information about the DR550 Storage Controller, such as
explanations of controls and indicator lights. Table 7 on page 44 contains the
problem symptoms and error messages, along with suggested problem resolution
actions.
IBM Director provides status indications and error reporting for the DR550 Storage
Controller. You can use IBM Director, in conjunction with the DS4000 Storage
Manager for DR550 client, to diagnose storage subsystem problems and component
failures, and to find solutions to problems that have definite symptoms.
To gather problem data for the DR550 Storage Controller:
v If an error indicator is present, check IBM Director for device status and look in
v Check DR550 Storage Controller status with DS4000 Storage Manager for DR550
v Use the Recovery Guru menu function in the DS4000 Subsystem Management
v Review the DS4000 Major Event Log (MEL) and all support data with Storage
v Obtain the support bundle by selecting Advanced > Maint > Collect All

Symptom-to-FRU index

In addition to the DS4000 Storage Manager for DR550 Recovery Guru, you can use
the symptom-to-FRU index in Table 7 on page 44. The index contains the problem
symptoms and error messages, along with suggested troubleshooting actions. Do
not depend solely on the index for FRU replacement decisions.
