Troubleshooting Guide

Before requesting service, make the below checks. If you are in doubt about some of the
check points, or if the remedies indicated in the chart do not solve the problem, consult your
dealer for instructions.

Problem
No power.
Unit turns off
automatically.
Cannot charge or the
[CHG] indicator fails to
light.
Unit doesn't work when
powered by battery.
No response when buttons
are pressed.
Play fails to start or stops
soon after starting.
No operation with remote
control.

Check connections to the AC adaptor, built-in battery, or
battery pack. Make sure you have removed the
insulation sheet. < = U
Confirm the battery charge on the LCD. =
You cannot turn on the unit with the remote control if the
unit is powered by battery.
The unit turns off after it has been stopped for about
15 minutes (5 minutes when the unit is powered by
battery) to conserve power. Turn the unit on again. >
You are using the unit in a place that is too hot or too
cold.
The built-in battery and battery pack can only be
recharged when the unit is off.
The charging time increases if the built-in battery or
battery pack is warm and charging may not be possible
under some circumstances. Wait for them to cool.
Check connection to the AC adaptor. Make sure you
have removed the insulation sheet. <
The built-in battery and battery pack have protection
circuitry that activate if they become too hot or too cold.
They will not work if this occurs. Use the unit between
5 oC and 35 oC.
Some discs prohibit certain operations.
If there is no response at all, the unit may have been
affected by lightning or static electricity. Try turning the
unit off and on again. Alternatively, turn the unit off,
disconnect the power source (AC or battery) reconnect
the power and turn the unit on again.
Condensation may have formed in the unit.
Wait 1 or 2 hours for it to clear.
This unit cannot play discs other than those specified. :
Clean the disc. d
Ensure the disc is inserted correctly. >
Check that the DVD-RAM has something recorded on it.
Check that the battery is inserted correctly. <
Replace the battery if it is drained. <
Aim the remote control at the remote control signal
sensor. <
