If your unit does not work properly check the following before calling a service engineer.
SYMPTOMS
POWER
The Mains lead is not connected.
No power.
Main power (ON) switch is OFF.
TIMER REC button is ON.
Recorder does not work
(TIMER REC indicator is on.)

BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE

CAUSE
Connect Mains lead to AC outlet.
Set it to ON.
Set it to OFF.
(TIMER REC indicator is off.)
Wait for a few hours.
Connect the Mains lead to the AC outlet.
Check antenna connections or broken wires.
Press the Sub Power ( ) button.
Try another channel.
Try another channel.
Check antenna connections or broken wires.
Move the antenna away from the source of
interference.
Try another channel.
Move the antenna away from the source of

Increase VOLUME control.
Check antenna connections or broken wires.
Try another channel.

Adjust the colour settings.
Place an adhesive tape over the gap.
Clean the video heads.
Set main power to ON.
Set the clock.
Set the START/END time correctly.
Set the TIMER REC button to ON.
Set the present time correctly.
After OTR recording, set the timer recording.
Let the tape run for a couple of seconds
before recording the first INDEX mark.
Adjust the TRACKING control.
Clean the video heads.
Try another tape.
Try another tape.
Eject the disc and clean it.
Some times a small amount of picture
distortion may appear. This is not a malfunction.
