Self-diagnosis devices

This model is equipped with a self-diag-
nosis device for the following electrical
circuits:
G
throttle position sensor
G
speed sensor
G
EXUP system
G
overturn switch
If any of those circuits are defective, the
tachometer will repeatedly display the
following error code:
Circuit-specific
0 r/min for
number of r/min
3 seconds
for 2.5 seconds
(See the table
below.)
Use the chart below to identify the
faulty electrical circuit.
Specific r/min for the faulty circuit
Throttle position sensor:
3000 r/min
Speed sensor:
4000 r/min
EXUP system:
7000 r/min
Overturn switch:
9000 r/min

If the tachometer displays such an error
code, note the circuit-specific number
of r/min, and then have a Yamaha deal-
er check the vehicle.
CAUTION:
When the tachometer displays an er-
ror code, the vehicle should be
checked as soon as possible in or-
der to avoid engine damage.

Fuel gauge

1. Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the amount of
fuel in the fuel tank. The needle moves
towards "E" (Empty) as the fuel level
decreases. When the needle reaches
"E", approximately 4.0 L (1.06 US gal)
(0.88 Imp.gal) of fuel remain in the fuel
tank. If this occurs, refuel as soon as
possible.
NOTE:
Do not allow the fuel tank to empty itself
completely.
