Notes

BMW CD players and changers are
Class 1 laser products. Do not use them if
the cover is damaged, otherwise there is a risk
of serious eye injuries.
Do not use CDs with adhesive labels that have
been affixed subsequently, as these may peel
off while in the drive as a result of the tempera-
tures to which CDs are exposed during playing,
and could damage the system irreparably.
Use only round CDs with a standard diameter of
12 cm and do not use CDs in conjunction with
adapters, e.g. CD singles, as otherwise the CDs
or the adapter could jam and it may not be pos-
sible to eject the CD.
Do not use combined CD/DVDs, e.g. DVD
Otherwise the CD/DVD could jam and it may not
be possible to eject
it.<
General faults
BMW CD players and changers are optimised
for operation in the vehicle. They may respond
more sensitively to defective CDs than devices
intended for stationary use.
If a CD cannot be played, first check that it has
been inserted the right way up.
Atmospheric humidity
A high level of humidity may cause the CD or
the laser beam focusing lens to fog over and
temporarily prevent the CD from being played.
Faults on individual CDs
If faults only occur on certain CDs, this can be
due to one of the following reasons.
Self-recorded CDs
Faults occurring with self-recorded CDs may be
attributable to inconsistent data creation and
recording methods, for example, or inferior
quality or severe ageing of the blank CD used.
Only write on the upper side of CDs using a spe-
cial marker pen.
