RDS – Radio Data System
The Radio Data System broadcasts additional
information on the FM waveband. RDS stations
therefore offer the following features:
>
Where a radio station is broadcast on sev-
eral frequencies, the radio automatically
switches to whichever frequency offers the
best reception.
> In good reception conditions, station names
are displayed.
> Additional information can be shown on the
display, e.g. text announcements by the
station.
> Via RDS, certain stations broadcast the
type of the programme being received,
PTY. This is flashed up briefly on the display
when selecting the station, e.g. NEWS. Dis-
aster warnings can also be displayed via
PTY, e.g. "ALARM".
Switching RDS on/off

Press the key.

Press the key.
RDS switched on.
The name of the current station is displayed if it
broadcasts RDS information.
Displaying programme type

Press the key.
