General safety precautions

Requirements for the floor plate: If the stove will be
installed on a combustible floor, a robust, solid, non-
combustible layer should cover the floor beneath the stove.
This layer should cover an area of at least 300 mm in front
of the stove door, and at least 150 mm either side of the
opening. (See Buildings Regulations). We recommend that
you contact the local Jøtul dealer prior to installation.
Distance from product to firewall: See fig. 1.
Firewall requirements: The firewall must be at least 100
mm thick and be made of brick, concrete stone or light
concrete. Other materials and constructions with
satisfactory documentation may also be used.
Installation of stove in a recess: A freestanding stove may
be placed in a recess if this has been constructed with the
thickness of a firewall. The minimum measurements of
the recess must allow 100 mm free distance from the
product to the back wall and sides. The height of the recess
must be equivalent to at least the total height of the product
+ the depth of the recess. The front must be open.
Always check your local codes in ensuring that your
installation is safe and legal.
When using your stove always follow these safety
precautions:
-
Never overfire the stove. This may cause serious
damage to the stove and the chimney.
-
Never use gasoline or similar liquids to start a fire in
this heater.
-
Avoid creating a "low pressure" condition in the room
where the stove is operating, because this could cause
poisonous gases to be drawn into the room.
-
Never extinguish the flames or ashes with water during
use as this may damage your stove and possibly cause
injury to yourself.
-
Ensure that when the fire is used with the door open, a
fire screen is placed in front of the fire. Also make sure
that furniture and other flammable materials do not
get too close to the stove.
-
Ash should be placed outdoors or be emptied in a place
where it will not represent a potential hazard.
-
Be careful in using your stove because it is very hot.
Installation of Jøtul F 100
Note! The illustrations are placed in the middle of the manual
so the pages can be removed. This makes it easier to follow
the figures during the assembling process.
Check the stove to ensure that it is free of any damage in
transit before commencing with the installation.

Assembly prior to installation

The product is heavy. You will need help during assembly
and when the product is being placed into position.
Assembling the stove (fig. 2)
1. After unpacking the stove - take out the items which
are packed inside it. These items are an ash lip and a
door handle knob.
2. Check that the stove is free of any damage and that
the regulating handle works.
3. NB. The top plate is laying loose on the top of the product
and shall not be fastened.
4. Install the ash lip by hooking it onto the front, just below
the door.
5. Screw the door handle knob to the front door handle.
(The washer shall be placed between the handle and
the knob).

Choose a flue exit position

Prior to making an opening in the chimney, the fireplace
should be set up as a test to ensure proper placement on
the firewall in relation to the chimney. See fig. 1 for
dimensions of firewall. Mark off hole for the flue pipe (pay
attention to any rise toward the chimney).
From the factory the fireplace is prepared for a top flue
outlet. If the fireplace is to be mounted with a rear outlet,
follow these steps:
1. Lift off the top plate.
2. Cut an opening for the flue pipe in the rear heat shield
(fig. 3).
3. Unfasten from the lower side of the top plate the 2
screws, which hold the smoke outlet in place (fig. 4 A).
4. From the inside, unscrew the two screws attaching the
cover for the rear outlet. (Hold on to the cover when
removing the last screw) (fig. 5A).
5. Let cover and smoke outlet change places.
6. Put on the top plate.
7. Use the gasket enclosed with the product; remove it
from the protective cover and fasten it around the
smoke outlet.
