APPENDIX E
The installation procedure described in Section 3, Installation
assumes default settings for HomeRF parameters. Default network
settings are sufficient for most installations. In other words, the
installation procedure is designed so that you do not need to
know anything about wireless networking to install these products
successfully.
However, if you have an existing wireless network or a more complex
network at home, you may need to manually configure the wireless
security code, also known as a network ID, for your wireless adapter.
You do not need to explicitly configure the security code for
s i m p l e f i, since s i m p l e f i learns and adapts to the security code of
the wireless adapter connected to your PC.
If you're having a problem with discovering s i m p l e f i, your problem
may be related to network settings. For more information, see
Appendix D, Configuring IP Address Information. Also, read
Appendix C, Troubleshooting.
Security Codes – Windows 98SE and Me
Follow the instructions below to manually configure the wireless
security code, also known as a network ID, of the wireless adapter
connected to your PC. The following dialog boxes describe how to
set the security code for Windows 98SE users. Windows Me dialog
boxes are similar. This appendix lists Windows 2000 instructions fol-
lowing the Windows 98SE description.
