Manual Transmission with an External Telephone connected to
the Machine (For MFC-830)
Manual transmission lets you hear the dial tone, ringing and fax receiving tones before sending a fax.

Insert the document face down in the feeder.

Pick up the handset of the external telephone and listen for a dial tone.

Enter the fax number you want to call. (You can enter the digits using the dial pad or you can
enter a One Touch or Speed Dial number or you can call from the Tel-Index.) (See One Touch
Dialling and Speed Dialling in Chapter 4.)

When you hear the fax tone, press Start.

Return the handset to its cradle of the external telephone.

Manual transmission lets you hear the dial tone, ringing and fax receiving tones before sending the
fax.

Insert the document face down in the feeder.

Pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone.

Enter the fax number you want to call. (You can enter the digits using the dial pad or you can
enter a One Touch or Speed Dial number or you can call from the Tel-Index.) (See One Touch
Dialling and Speed Dialling in Chapter 4.)

When you hear the fax tone, press Start.

To hang up, replace the handset.
Fax Redial
If you're sending a fax manually and the line is busy, you can retry the number by pressing Redial/
Pause.

Press Redial/Pause.

Press Start.
If you're sending a fax automatically and the line is busy, the machine will automatically redial up
to 4 times at 2 minute intervals.
Colour Fax transmission
Your Multi-Function Center allows you to transmit a colour fax.

Place the document face down in the feeder.

Press Resolution to select the Colour Fax.

Enter the fax number using the dial pad, One Touch, Speed Dial or Search.

Press Start.
When you send a colour fax, the MFC starts sending the fax without scanning the
original into memory.
