Vehicle status messages in the multifunction display
Possible cause/consequence
A malfunction has occurred while
DISTRONIC Plus was switched on.
The brake system is still functioning
normally but due to a malfunction, the
ABS, the BAS, the BAS Plus, the EBP, the
® ®
ESP , the PRE-SAFE and the PRE-
®
SAFE Brake are unavailable.
Possible solution

While observing surrounding traffic conditions
and when it is safe, immediately depress the
brake pedal firmly until the warning message
disappears.

Secure vehicle from rolling away before getting
out of it ( Y page 333).
X
Continue driving with added caution. Wheels
may lock during hard braking, reducing
steering capability.

Adjust driving to be consistent with reduced
braking responsiveness.
X
Have the system checked at an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center as soon as possible.
Failure to follow these instructions increases the
risk of an accident.
