Recording the program source (recording the source currently being monitored)
Playing one source while recording another (REC OUT mode)

Press the REC SELECT button.

With "RECOUT SOURCE"
displayed, turn the FUNCTION knob
to select the source you wish to
record.
• The "REC" indicator and the
(Main unit)
indicator of the selected source
light.

Set the recording mode.
• For operating instructions, refer to the manual of
the component on which you want to record.

To cancel, turn the function knob
and select "SOURCE".
• When "SOURCE" is selected, the
"REC" indicator turns off.

13 SURROUND

Before playing with the surround function
• Before playing with the surround function, be sure to use the test tones to adjust the playback level from each
speakers. This adjustment can be performed from the remote control unit, as (described) below.
• The adjustment with the test tones is only effective in the DOLBY/DTS SURROUND modes.
The adjusted playback levels for the different surround modes are automatically stored in the memory of each
surround modes.

• Recording sources other than digital inputs
selected in the REC OUT mode are also output to
the multi source audio output jacks.
• Digital signals are not output from the REC
SOURCE or audio output jacks.

Press the TEST TONE button.

Test tones are output from the
different speakers. Use the
channel volume adjust buttons
to adjust so that the volume of
the test tones is the same for
all the speakers.

NOTE: Please make sure the "AUDIO" position
of the slide switch on the remote control
unit.
• After adjusting using the test tones, adjust the channel levels either according to the playback sources or to
suit your tastes, as (described) below.

Adjust the level of the selected speaker.

Only adjustable when
the channel is
selected with the CH
VOL buttons on the
main unit.
Default setting of channel level is 0 dB.
The level of the selected speaker can be adjusted
within the range of +12 to –12 dB.
SW channel level can be turned off by decreasing
one step from -12 dB.

After completing the adjustment, press the
