Engine Controls Choke Lever Use the choke lever (Figure 13) to start a cold engine. Before pulling the recoil-start handle, move the choke lever to the closed position. Once the engine is running, move the choke lever to the open position. Do not use the choke if the engine is already warmed up or the air temperature is high.
