Effective range of the sensor skin

The sensor skin secures the work area of the robot with the following limitations:
• Operation of the APAS is stationary.
• Movements in the direction of tool stroke are not detected by the sensor skin.
This area must be secured by the optional collision detection element or by other
suitable safety equipment.
• In the area of axis 3, the space in front of sensor element CH1#63 / CH2#68 is
only partly secured. Adjacent sensors prevent body parts from being pulled into
the area of axis 3. There must be no shear or pinching edges or other stationary
objects in the danger areas in front of the stated sensor element in order to
minimize the risk of injury due to collision during rotation of axis 2.
The following figures show the hazard area for two different angular positions
of axis 3 during rotation of axis 2 as an example. The actual danger area must
be determined specifically for each application, depending on the robot
movement used.

• In the area of axis 5, the space in front of sensor element rotation sensor is only
partly secured. The stated sensor and adjacent sensors prevent body parts from
being pulled into the area of axis 5. There must be no shear or pinching edges
or stationary objects in the danger areas in front of the stated sensor element in
order to minimize the risk of injury due to collision during movement of the robot
in the direction of a person.
