MAINTENANCE

By following a good maintenance program, your
equipment will last for many years.
5.2.1

CHANGING SEALS IN VALVE

1. Clear the area of bystanders, especially
small children before starting.
2. Turn tractor off and relieve pressure by
operating the handle several times.
3. Be sure to wear a face shield to protect
your eyes.
4. Order and obtain seal kit number 9803.
a. 1 - 82527 O-ring (Item #16).
b. 1 - 82755 O-ring (Item #26).
c. 1 - 80311 O-ring (Item #14).
d. 1 - 82131 Back-up Washer (Item
#12).
5. Remove control lever (Item #3); cotter
pin (Item #20), pin (Item #19) and link
(Item #27); allowing the handle to be
removed from the end of the spool (Item
#2).
6. Remove the handle bracket (Item #28)
by removing the two screws (Item #13)
with a screw driver.
7. Remove the two screws at the opposite
end of the valve (Item #13) allowing
removal of the spring cover (Item #19).
8. Carefully tap the spool towards the
valve body from the handle (or yoked)
end. A plastic or wooden screw driver
handle is sufficient. Tap the spool back
until you can pull the spool out of the valve
body by hand.
IMPORTANT
Do not force the spool, if
you must exert more than
15lbs. of pull on the detent
sub-assembly something
is jammed.

9. The o-ring(Item #26) closest to the detent
sub-assembly (Item #17) will come out on the
spool. Remove and replace with the new o-
ring of like size. Remove the seal retainer
(Item #8) from the handle end of the valve
along with the o-ring (Item #14) and back-up
washer (Item #12).
10. Install the valve spool in housing with the
handle end entering the casting from the end
marked "B". Turn the spool as you insert past
the lands of the valve body (Item #1) and
continue turning and pushing until the o-ring
(Item #26) and seal retainer (Item #24) are
into the valve body.
