Carefully remove the PTO cablefrom the rearofthe cuttingdeckby

Jump Starting
Neverjump start a damaged or frozen battery. Be certain the vehicles
do not touch, and ignitions are off. Donot allow cable clamps to
touch.

Connect positive(+) cableto positivepost(+) of yourtractor'sdischarged
battery.
2.
Connect the otherendofthe cableto the (positive+) postof thejumper
battery.
3.
Connect the second cable(negative-) to the otherpostof thejumper
battery.
4.
Connect the otherendofthe negativecableto the engineblockofthe
tractor,away from the battery.Attachto anunpaintedpartto assure agood
connection.
If the jumperbattery is installed on avehicle (i.e.car,truck),do NOT start
the vehicle'senginewhen jump starting your tractor.
Neverexceedthe maximum inflation pressure shown on the sidewall of
tire.
The recommendedoperating tire pressure is:
Approximately 1 0psifor the reartires
Approximately 1 4psiforthe front tires
IM PORTANT: Referto the tire sidewall f or exacttire manufacturer's
recommended o r maximumpsi.Donot overinflate.Uneven tire pressure c ould
cause the cuttingdeck to mowunevenly.
Battery
Thebatteryissealedandismaintenance-free. Acidlevels cannotbechecked.
Alwayskeepthe batterycables andterminalscleanandfreeof corrosive
build-up.
Aftercleaning the batteryandterminals, a pplya lightcoatof petroleum jelly
or grease to bothterminals.
Alwayskeepthe rubberbootpositioned overthe positive terminalto prevent
shorting.
If removing the battery, disconnectthe NEGATIVE (Black)wire from its
terminal first, followed bythe POSITIVE (Red)wire. Whenre-installing
the battery, alwaysconnectthe POSITIVE (Red)wire to its terminal first,
[fo owed bythe NEGAT V E(Back)w re.

Startthe tractor(asinstructed earlierinthissectionof thismanual).

Setthe tractor'sparkingbrakebefore removing the jumpercables, i n reverse
orderofconnection.
Charging
Batteriesgiveoff an explosivegaswhile charging. Chargethe battery ina
l well ventilated areaand keepawayfrom an open flame or pilot light ason a
lwater heater,spaceheater,furnace,clothesdryeror othergasappliances.
Whenchargingyourtractor's battery,useonly acharger d esignedfor 12Vlead-
acidbatteries.Read yourbattery charger's Owner'sManualprior to charging
routtractor's battery.Alwaysfollow itsinstructions andheeditswarnings.
Ifyourtractorhasnot beenput intouseforanextended periodof time,chargethe
batteryasfollows:

Setyourbatterycharger t o delivera maxof 10amperes.
2.
Ifyourbatterycharger i sautomatic, c hargethe batteryuntilthe charger
indicates thatcharging iscomplete. I fthe chargerisnot automatic, c harge
for nofewerthaneighthours.
