Caution in Handling and Maintenance

For d u s t i n g , use a f e a t h e r or a soft lens brush and t h e n a w a s h e d - o u t
soft c o t t o n c l o t h only to wipe off f i n g e r m a r k s or grease, w e t t h e c l o t h
w i t h xylor, b u t never w i t h a l c o h o l or ether.
The m i c r o s c o p e body s u r f a c e s s h o u l d be d u s t e d in t h e s a m e way and
may s l i g h t l y be o i l e d ,
• T i g h t n e s s of t h e coarse f o c u s i n g k n o b s s h o u l d be a d j u s t e d , in t h i s t y p e
(L-Ke) of m i c r o s c o p e , by m e a n s of t h e a d j u s t i n g r i n g , not by t w i s t i n g t h e
k n o b s .
• D i s m a n t l i n g of t h e i n t e r n a l o p t i c a l parts and t h e m i c r o s c o p e body s h o u l d
not be a t t e m p t e d , because it m a y i n t e r f e r e w i t h t h e p e r f o r m a n c e of
t h e i n s t r u m e n t . It can be a c c o m p l i s h e d only by an expert or t h e o r i g i n a l
m a n u f a c t u r e r .
• Do not apply any grease of n o t specified type to t h e s l i d i n g s u r f a c e s of
t h e coarse f o c u s i n g a d j u s t m e n t and of t h e f l o a t i n g stage. If necessary,
ask for y o u r dealer or t h e m a n u f a c t u r e r .
• The m i c r o s c o p e is to be used at a d u s t - f r e e place. Avoid any f o r c i b l e
m a n i p u l a t i o n of t h e m o v i n g p a r t s . At all t i m e s t h e i n s t r u m e n t is to be
h a n d l e d c a r e f u l l y e.g. for c a r r y i n g t h e m i c r o s c o p e , hold its base w i t h one
h a n d and its a r m w i t h t h e other.
• When not in use, it s h o u l d be covered w i t h t h e vinyl cover or k e p t in
t h e w o o d e n c a b i n e t w h i c h is available on order. Store it at a dry place.
