    Welcome! This owner’s manual describes two models: the MDV410 and the MDV430. The dis- play panels of these two Players have a different appearance. Also, the MDV430 has COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks, but the MDV410 does not. Otherwise, the two models operate identically.

    If you insert an unacceptable type of disc, “Please insert a playable disc” will appear on the TV screen. (Also, “- - - - - “ will appear on the display panel of the MDV430. There is no indication on the front of the MDV410 if an unacceptable Disc is in the disc tray.) The following Discs will not play on this DVD Player.

    However, the following guidelines describe which options have the best picture and sound quality. COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks provide the best picture quality. These are available on the MDV430 only. Use the S-VIDEO OUT jack for excellent picture quality. Use the yellow VIDEO OUT jack for good picture quality.

    Press POWER to turn on the DVD Player. P-ON will appear briefly on the display panel of the MDV430. The red POWER light will appear on the front of the MDV410 when the power is on. Press OPEN/CLOSE A to open the Disc tray.

For example, the menu may offer choices for subtitle languages, director’s commentary, or soundtrack playback. To use the DVD menu and select playback features, follow these steps.

Playback will pause and the sound will be mute. During DVD playback, press PAUSE F repeatedly to advance the picture one frame at a time.

On a DVD, pressing Fast Forward g or Reverse h repeatedly will forward or reverse the picture at twice, eight times, 30 times, or 60 times the normal playback speed.

Press Fast Forward D repeatedly during slow motion playback to vary the speed of slow motion playback. You may play the DVD at 1/16, 1/8, or 1/2 the normal playback speed.

You may use the Number buttons, the SEARCH MODE button, or the SKIP H G buttons. Using the Number Buttons to Select a Track Press the Number buttons to enter the desired Track number.

You can change the language only if multiple languages are available on the DVD. Press AUDIO during playback so the audio dis- play appears at the top of the TV screen.

Press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a subti- tle language. The subtitle display will appear at the top of the TV screen.
