    INTRODUCTION Take time to attentively read all continuous information in this instruction manual and keep it for consultation it contains all the necessary information to an installation and an efficient use of the Diamond wood Insert. Before installing the wood Insert consult the local authorities to obtain a construction permit. Take note of all the lawful requirements into force.

    SECURITY REQUIREMENTS A. Keep the children away from the stove when it is in use. B. This stove was designed to burn wood in reasonable quantity. Avoid large fires, which could damage the stove. Do not burn wet or green wood, or wood that contains salt, plywood or melamine. C.

    CREOSOTE When wood burns slowly, it produces tar and other organic vapours when, associated with moisture, forms creosote. The creosote vapour condenses in a chimney flue relatively cooled by a slow fire. Its results in an accumulation from creosote inside the pipe. When burning, the creosote forms an extremely blazing hot fire. It is preferable to make small brisk fires rather than large smouldering fires.

    LIGHTING A FIRE Lighting, a good sharp fire is necessary. Introduce into the outer firebox a small quantity of old ruffled papers and cover them with seasoned kindling. Open the damper keys (located at the center, behind the higher shutter) and light fire. As soon as fire is well taken, add pieces of wood a little larger and close the door.

    REFRACTORY BRICKS REPLACEMENT Do not use the stove when there is a missing or broken brick. If a refractory brick is broken replace it by a similar one. You can purchase replacement refractory bricks at your retailer or at Soca Industries INC.     MAINTENANCE OF PLATED SURFACES Never clean plated surfaces with abrasive cleanser. Plated surfaces of your stove can easily be scratched. To retain their original finish only use a soft damp during maintenance. CHIMNEY MAINTENANCE It is important to inspect the chimney or clean it periodically. It is necessary to clean the chimney after an accumulation of 3 mm creosote.

    CHIMNEY The stove must not be connected to any other distribution system: such as an incinerator, heating system or ventilation system. The Diamond requires a stainless liner that must be placed from the nozzle of the stove to the top of the chimney. The liner facilitates the sweeping and maintenance, since the sweeping can be done from the top of the chimney and that the deposits can be removed from inside the insert.

    FRESH AIR INPUT & RETURN OF SMOKE Diamond stove well installed should not produce any smoke in the house. If the stove produces smoke, it will probably be for one of the following reasons : 1. The external installation of the chimney is defective or incorrect, engaging in an air return problem and, consequently difficult lightings.

    CHIMNEY LINING SYSTEM INSTALLATION DIAGRAM WARNING: do not remove bricks and mortar from the existing fireplace. The space between the Diamond Insert and the masonry fireplace must be closed. The masonry fireplace must meet the minimum code requirement for a safe installation. Contact your local Building Inspector for requirement in your area.

    FULL FLUE LINER METHOD The Insert must be installed as per the requirements of your local inspection authority. In Canada a full flue liner is required. A full flue liner is where a stainless steel rigid or flexible liner pipe is routed from the insert outlet collar to the top of the chimney.
