  • Page 10 If resistance is experienced while closing the battery door, make sure the battery is inserted properly. When the battery door is completely closed, your Ovation Shift is ready for operation. Place the Shift over your ear. Grab the loose end of the tubing and gently insert the tip into the ear canal.

    Wearing Your Ovation Shift When properly inserted, the tubing will lay close to the head around the front of the ear and into the canal. You can check this by moving your finger down the tubing, into the ear. Using a mirror at first may be helpful to properly position the device.

Start out in a quiet environment. The first time you turn your Shift on, it will be at the lowest amplification setting.

    – Open the battery door part way to turn off your Shift. You have one program available – Quiet. You can still Shift Base: adjust the volume by tapping the rocker switch. You now have two programs available – Quiet Shift Plus: and Noise.

    Care The following instructions will assist in extending the life of your Ovation Shift device. Cleaning the Exterior You should inspect and clean your Shift every day. To clean, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth or a moist non-alcohol disinfecting wipe.
  • Page 19 Do not rinse or submerge these parts in water. There is a risk of damage if a water drop becomes trapped in the tube. If this should occur, it will prevent sound from coming through the tube and may be harmful to your Ovation Shift’s electronics. Care...
  • Page 20 If it is necessary to store your Shift devices for an extended amount of time, follow the steps below: Remove the batteries. Clean your Ovation Shift according to instructions in this manual. A full cycle in a drybox is recommended prior to extended storage.

However, when your hand is (“Feedback”) near the device, you may hear a whistling noise, which is called “feedback.” This may be caused by amplified sound bouncing off your hand back into the instrument.

    How to Reset (both models) After wearing your Ovation Shift for a while, you may decide you want to try a different Amplification Setting than the one you initially selected. Your Shift may be reset by following these simple steps: With a battery inserted, open the battery door.

    Children with hearing loss In addition to seeing a physician for a medical evaluation, a child with a hearing loss should be directed to an audiologist for evaluation and rehabilitation since hearing loss may cause problems in language development and the educational and social growth of a child. An audiologist is qualified by training and experience to assist in the evaluation and rehabilitation of a child with a hearing loss.
