These openings are to hold the firestop and attic insulation shield. • Locate each opening by dropping a plumb bob to the four corners of the opening below. • Maintain the minimum 2-inch clearance/air space.     • Chase top flashings (includes chase top collars and Attic Shield Collar spacing clips) are available from your HHT dealer. • Additional non-combustible structural supports can be field-fabricated to help support the chase top flashing if needed, provided the air ventilation requirements are maintained. See Figure 4.15. • If the chase top flashing (40 in. x 40 in.) does not ensure the minimum 1/2 in. spacing and perimeter ventilation Firestop requirements as shown in Figure 4.13., use a chase top collar and field-construct the flashing as needed for the chase dimensions.     The brick panels have been designed for installation without the use of mortar being necessary. If the look of mortar is preferred, it is available and can be installed. Follow the directions on the container for mixing. Clean sparingly as paint will rub off and may need to be touched up. Touch up paint is available as an ac- cessory. Note: Herringbone refractory may require two buckets of mortar. The Tranditional requires only one. F. Grate • Install the grate if a gas log set is not going to be installed. • Position the rear grate bar in the Grate Retainer. • Position the top of the grate retainer over the rear grate bar and fasten in place with screw provided.
