Important: Do not place the rice cooker directly underneath your cabinets or too close
to a wall.
Caution: Do not put your hand over the steam vent as you may get burned with the hot
steam.
8. Once rice is cooked, the COOK indicator light turns off.
Note: do not try to prevent the rice cooker from switching to the keep warm cycle. do not
press the ON switch again after it has begun the keep warm cycle.
9. The ON switch lever pops up and the rice cooker automatically switches to the keep
warm cycle.
10. The WARM indicator light comes on and stays on, therefore maintaining the serving
temperature.
11. After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to further steam
the rice.
Note: If holding rice for longer than 30 minutes, stir occasionally to prevent browning of
rice on the bottom of cooking bowl.
12. Open the lid and stir the rice before serving.
Note: The condensation catcher will capture the drippings from the lid to keep water off
the countertop.
Caution: When removing the lid, lift away from your body as you may get burned with
the hot steam.
13. Unplug the appliance when not in use.
Important: The appliance has no on / off button. It will stay in the keep warm cycle and
the WARM indicator light will stay on until the appliance is unplugged.

HELPFUL HINTS

• Although the rice measure holds about 5 ounces of uncooked rice; the cooked rice is
given in 8 ounce cup measures.
• Kosher salt has no impurities and dissolves faster than table salt. If using kosher salt
you may find you want to add a little more than if using table salt. Use about ¾ tsp
kosher salt to each cup of uncooked rice.
• White rice should be kept in an airtight container in a cool dark place.
• Brown rice has a limited shelf life; store it for no more than a month before using.
• Try using broth, stock or reconstituted bouillon in place of water for additional flavor.
If you do, no additional salt may be necessary.

TO USE STEAMER BASKET

Refer to VEGETABLE ANd FISH COOKING CHART for suggestions on cooking time and
seasonings.
1. Pour about 1½ cups of cold tap water into cooking bowl using standard liquid
measuring cup. Add seasoning, if desired.
2. Place vegetables or other food in the steamer basket.
3. Place steamer basket on top of cooking bowl.
Note: Before placing cooking bowl into rice cooker, be sure the heating plate and outside
surface of the cooking bowl are clean and dry. Make sure no food falls into the rice
cooker.
4. Close the lid. Press down until you hear a click.
Note: Always keep the lid closed on the rice cooker while cooking.
Important: As food cooks, steam will escape through the steam vent. Make sure steam
vent faces away from cabinets and walls.
Caution: Do not place hand over steam vent while rice is cooking; the hot steam may
burn.

5. Plug cord into standard electrical outlet. The WARM indicator light comes on.
6. Press down the ON switch. The COOK indicator light comes on and cooking begins.
Note: When heating prepared foods, the ON switch and COOK indicator light are not
intended to be an indicator of cooking time. Always use a kitchen timer and do not
leave these foods unattended.
7. Begin checking vegetables or food after about 8 minutes.
Note: Cooking time will vary depending upon type and amount of food to be cooked.
8. When cooking is completed remove food and serve.
9. Unplug the appliance when not in use.
Important: The appliance has no on / off button. Make sure you unplug the appliance
when not in use.

TO PREPARE PACKAGED FOODS

Packaged foods, such as, condensed and ready to serve soups, beans, pasta products
and stews may be heated in the rice cooker following these directions:
1. Place food to be heated into cooking bowl.
Caution: Do not fill the cooking bowl higher than the MAX line on the cooking bowl.
2. Before placing cooking bowl into rice cooker, make sure the outside surface of the
cooking bowl and heating plate are clean and dry.
Note: do not allow any food to fall into the rice cooker.
3. Insert cooking bowl into rice cooker.
4. Close the lid. Press down until you hear a click.
Note: Always keep the lid closed on the rice cooker while cooking.
5. Uncoil cord and plug into standard electrical outlet. The WARM indicator light
comes on.
6. Press down the ON switch. The COOK indicator light comes on and cooking begins.
Important: As the food heats steam may come out through the steam vent. Make
sure steam vent faces away from cabinets and walls.
Caution: Do not place hand over steam vent while food is cooking; the hot steam may
burn.
7. For even heating stir food occasionally during cooking.
8. Close lid when stirring is completed. Press down until you hear a click.
9. Bring food to a boil.
Note: When heating prepared foods the ON switch and the COOK indicator light are
not intended to be an indicator of cooking time. Always use a kitchen timer and do not
leave these foods unattended.
10. When cooking is completed, unplug appliance and serve immediately.
Important: The appliance has no on/off button. Make sure you unplug the appliance
when not in use.
HOW TO PREPARE SOUPS AND STEWS
1. Select recipes that will cook in 1 hour or less. Use only boneless meats and poultry
that are cut into cubes no larger than 1½ inches. It is not necessary to brown the
meats before cooking. As the soup or stew begins to cook, steam will come out of
the vent in the lid.
Important: Do not place the appliance directly under your cabinets.
Note: When cooking rice or pasta in a soup, allow for additional liquid in the recipe.
Important: To reduce the risk of electric shock, cook only in removable nonstick
cooking bowl provided.
2. Combine meats, vegetables and liquids in the cooking bowl. Stir with a wooden or
plastic spoon until ingredients are blended well.
