    Get Started Your phone is packed with features that simplify your life and expand your ability to stay connected to  the people and information that are important to you. The following topics will introduce the basic  functions and features of your phone. Your Phone at a Glance The illustrations and descriptions below outline your phone’s basic layout. Set Up Your Phone You must first charge your phone.  1.  Charge your phone.   Connect the charging adapter and USB cable as shown; the LG logo on the charging  adapter should face toward you.  Get Started...

      Plug one end of the USB cable into the phone's Charger/Accessory Port and the other end  into an electrical outlet. The charge time varies depending upon the battery level.  Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal,  run the setup application, set up voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge the battery as  soon as possible.   2.  Press and hold the Power/Lock Button to turn the phone on.   If your phone is activated, it will turn on, search for service, and begin the setup process.    If your phone is not yet activated, see Activate Your Phone for more information. Activate Your Phone Follow the instructions below to activate your phone if it has not already been activated. Depending  on your account or how and where you purchased your phone, it may be ready to use or you may  need to activate it on your Sprint account.   If you purchased your phone at a Sprint Store, it is probably activated and ready to use.   If you received your phone in the mail and it is for a new Sprint account or a new line of service, it  is designed to activate automatically.   When you turn the phone on for the first time, you should see a Hands Free Activation  screen, which may be followed by a PRL Update screen and a Firmware Update screen.  Follow the onscreen instructions to continue.   If you received your phone in the mail and you are activating a new phone for an existing number  on your account (you’re swapping phones), you can activate on your computer online or directly  on your phone.   Activate on your computer:  ...

    To confirm activation, make a phone call. If your phone is still not activated, visit sprint.com/support  for assistance. If you do not have access to the Internet, call Sprint Customer Service at 1-888-211- 4727 for assistance. Tip: Do not press the Power button while the phone is being activated. Pressing the Power button  cancels the activation process. Note: If you are having any difficulty with activation, visit sprint.com/support. Complete the Setup Screens The setup screens help you set up certain features and preferences on your phone. Once your  phone has been turned on, you will see a Welcome message. You can then complete the setup  process. Note: You may be able to complete the setup screens before your phone has been activated on  your Sprint account.  1.  From the Welcome screen, select a language (if prompted) and touch Next to get started.   To skip any section, touch Next or Skip. Note: On the Welcome screen, there may also be an Accessibility button. If you are visually  impaired or hard of hearing, touch Accessibility to change the accessibility settings.  2.  Follow the onscreen instructions to complete each section. For each topic, you will have the  option to skip it and continue to the next screen.   Wi-Fi – If prompted, follow the prompts to sign in to an available Wi-Fi network. For secured  Wi-Fi networks, you will need to enter a password. See Wi-Fi for more details.   Got Google? – Touch Yes and complete the steps to sign in to your current Google  Account, or touch No and then touch Get an account (to set up a new Google Account) or  Not now to skip Google setup. The following options may apply depending on your  selection:   Sign in – Enter your Gmail address and password and touch Sign in to sign in to your  current Google Account.

     3.  Touch Finish. Your setup is now complete. Follow the onscreen instructions to learn about basic  touch menu navigation, view tutorials, or just get started.  Note: You do not need to sign up for a Google Account to use your phone. However, to download  apps from the Google Play Store app, you must link your phone to a Google Account. Make Your First Call Once your phone is activated, you can make phone calls.  1.  Touch    >   >  .   2.  Use the dialpad to enter a phone number.   If you enter a wrong number, tap   to erase digits one by one.   To erase the entire number, touch and hold    3.  Touch    to dial the number. Note: Your phone's battery should have enough charge for your phone to turn on and find a signal,  set up your voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge your battery as soon as possible. Set Up Voicemail You should set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated. Always  use a password to protect against unauthorized access. Your phone automatically transfers all  unanswered calls to your voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off.  1.  Touch    >   >  . (If your screen is locked, press the Power button to turn on the display  and then swipe the screen to unlock it.)  2.  Touch and hold   to dial your voicemail number.

    Sprint Account Information and Help Find out about account passwords and information about managing your account and finding help. Sprint Account Passwords You will need to create passwords to protect access to your personal account information, your  voicemail account, and your data services account. As a Sprint customer, you enjoy unlimited  access to all your information. Account User Name and Password If you are the account owner, you will create an account user name and password when you sign on  to sprint.com. (Click Sign in/Register and then click Sign up now! to get started.) If you are not the  account owner (if someone else receives the bill for your Sprint service), you can get a sub-account  password at sprint.com. Voicemail Password You’ll create your voicemail password when you set up your voicemail. See Voicemail Setup for  more information on your voicemail password. Data Services Password With your Sprint phone, you may elect to set up an optional data services password to control access  and authorize purchases. For more information, or to change your passwords, sign on to sprint.com/mysprint. Manage Your Account Manage your Sprint account from your computer, your Sprint phone, or any other phone. Online: sprint.com/mysprint   Access your account information.   Check your minutes used (depending on your Sprint service plan).   View and pay your bill.   Enroll in Sprint online billing and automatic payment.

Sprint Support Services Sprint 411 and Sprint Operator Services let you easily access information and calling assistance  from your Sprint phone. Sprint 411 Sprint 411 gives you access to a variety of services and information, including residential, business,  and government listings; movie listings or showtimes; driving directions, restaurant reservations, and  major local event information. You can get up to three pieces of information per call, and the operator  can automatically connect your call at no additional charge.

      Back Key lets you return to the previous screen, or close a dialog box, options menu, the  Notifications panel, or onscreen keyboard.   Home Key returns you to the Home screen. Press and hold to open the recently-used  applications window.   Recent Apps Key Tap to open a list of thumbnail images of apps you’ve worked with recently.  To open an app, tap it. To remove a thumbnail from the list, swipe it left or right.   Power/Lock Button lets you turn the phone on or off or turn the screen on or off, or switch your  phone to silent mode, vibration mode, or airplane mode.   Speaker lets you hear the different ringtones and sounds. The speaker also lets you hear the  caller’s voice in speakerphone mode.   Charger/Accessory Jack allows you to connect the phone charger or the USB cable  (included).    Mic transmits your voice for phone calls or records your voice or ambient sounds for voice  recordings and videos.   Flash helps illuminate subjects in low-light environments when the camera is focusing and  capturing a picture or video.   Volume Button allows you to adjust the ringtone or media volume or adjust the voice volume  during a call.   Back-Facing Camera Lens lets you take pictures and videos.   3.5 mm Headset Jack allows you to plug in either a stereo headset or an optional headset for  convenient, hands-free conversations. ...

    Turn Your Screen On and Off Your phone allows you to quickly turn the screen off when not in use and to turn it back on and unlock  it when you need it. Turn the Screen Off When Not in Use   To quickly turn the screen off, press the Power button. Pressing the Power button again or  receiving an incoming call will turn on your phone screen and show the lock screen. To save battery power, the phone automatically turns off the screen after a certain period of time  when you leave it idle. You will still be able to receive messages and calls while the phone’s screen is  off. Note: For information on how to adjust the time before the screen turns off, see Sleep.  Turn the Screen On and Unlock It  1.  To turn the screen on, press the Power button.   2.  Touch   and drag it to the outer circle that appears to unlock the screen.   If you have set up a screen lock, you will be prompted to draw the pattern or enter the  password or PIN. See Screen Lock.   • Page 19 Drag To drag, press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to move your finger. While  dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position. Flick Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe your finger in light, quick  strokes. This finger gesture is always in a vertical direction, such as when flicking the contacts or  message list.   • Page 20 Rotate For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by  turning the phone sideways. When entering text, you can turn the phone sideways to bring up a  bigger keyboard. See Enter Text for more details.     Home Screen Overview Your home screen extends beyond the initial screen. Swipe the screen left or right to display  additional screens. Note: Your phone’s home screens cycle through so that you can keep swiping in one direction and  make it back to the main home screen. The small circles above the primary shortcuts let you know  your current screen position. Tip: Touch   to return to the main home screen from any other screen.  Customize the Home Screen Learn how to add, move, or remove items from the home screen.       Apps and widgets: Add app shortcuts to a home screen, or add widgets such as a clock,  calendar, mail, people, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles, social networking apps, and more.   Folder: Add a folder where you can organize screen items. Add a shortcut to all your  contacts, contacts with phone numbers, or starred contacts. Contact details are  automatically updated when there are changes in the source.   Page: Add a new blank home page, up to the maximum number of allowable home pages  for your phone. Move or Remove Items on the Home Screen   Touch and hold the item you want to move or remove from the home screen.   To move the item, drag it to a new area and release it.   To remove the item, drag it to the Remove icon at the top of the screen and release it. Extended Home Screens In addition to the main home screen, your phone has extended Home screens to provide more  space for adding icons, widgets, and more. Touch   and then drag across the screen to move  from the main screen to an extended screen. You can have any number of Home screens to the right of the main Home screen.    To add a Home screen, swipe to the rightmost screen and drag an app or widget to the right  edge.   The screen to the left of the main Home screen is reserved for Google Now, and is available only  when Google Now is turned on.     Select a Default Text Input Method You can select a default Text Input Method from Settings, or choose one at any time while entering  text. From Settings:   Touch   > Apps  > Settings  > Language & input > Default. While Entering Text:  1.  From a screen where you can enter text, drag down from the top of the screen to open the  Notifications panel.  2.  Tap Select input method, and then choose a text entry method.     Google Voice Typing Google Voice typing uses Google voice recognition to convert speech to text. Use Google Voice Typing to Enter Text  1.  From a screen where you can enter text, drag down from the top of the screen to open the  Notifications Panel, and then tap Google Voice Typing.  2.  Speak into the microphone and watch your text being entered onscreen.  3.  If the text is incorrect, tap DELETE.  4.  Once you have completed entering your text, tap Done. The onscreen keyboard will reappear. Make Phone Calls There are several convenient ways to place calls from your phone. Call Using the Phone Dialer The most “traditional” way to place a call is by using the phone’s dialer screen.   1.  Touch   >  >   to display the phone’s dialpad.  2.  Touch the number keys on the dialpad to enter the phone number.   As you enter digits, Smart Dial searches for contacts that match. If you see the number you  want to dial, touch it to place the call immediately without entering the rest of the number.  3.  Touch   to call the number.  4.  To end the call, touch   Phone Calls...

    Accounts and Messaging With wireless service and your phone’s messaging capabilities, you have the opportunity to share  information through many different channels and accounts, including Gmail (Google), personal and  corporate email, text and multimedia messaging, social networking accounts, and Google Talk. Important: Certain data services requests may require additional time to process. While your  phone is loading the requested service, the touchscreen or QWERTY keyboard may appear  unresponsive when in fact they are functioning properly. Allow the phone some time to process your  data usage request. LTE provides your phone with wireless Internet access over greater distances than Wi-Fi and  delivers data transfer rates of up to 30 Mbps. To connect your phone to the LTE network, you need  access to a LTE base station.     Virtual Private Networks (VPN) From your phone, you can add, set up, and manage virtual private networks (VPNs) that allow you  to connect and access resources inside a secured local network, such as your corporate network. Prepare Your Phone for VPN Connection Depending on the type of VPN you are using at work, you may be required to enter your login  credentials or install security certificates before you can connect to your company’s local network.  You can get this information from your network administrator. Before you can initiate a VPN connection, your phone must first establish a Wi-Fi or data connection.  For information about setting up and using these connections on your phone, see Launch a Web  Connection and Turn Wi-Fi On and Connect to a Wireless Network. Set Up Secure Credential Storage If your network administrator instructs you to download and install security certificates, you must first  set up the phone’s secure credential storage.  1.  Touch   > Apps   > Settings   > Security > Screen lock, and then touch Password.  2.  Enter a new password (at least eight characters without any spaces) for the credential storage,  scroll down and confirm the password, and then touch OK.  3.  Touch   to return to the main settings menu.  4.  Touch Trusted credentials and then touch your preferred system and user credentials.     Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range communications technology that allows you to connect wirelessly to a  number of Bluetooth devices, such as headsets and hands-free car kits, and Bluetooth-enabled  handhelds, computers, printers, and wireless phones. The Bluetooth communication range is  usually approximately 30 feet. Turn Bluetooth On or Off Use the settings menu to enable or disable your phone’s Bluetooth capabilities.  1.  Touch   > Apps   > Settings   2.  Touch the ON/OFF slider to turn Bluetooth ON. Touch it again to turn Bluetooth OFF.
