    Chapter 1: PROPULSION SYSTEM General The 28 Express Fisherman models are designed to be pow- ered with twin inboard engines and drive system or single or twin inboard engines coupled to a jackshaft drive system. Both drive systems are available with gas or diesel engines. Each manufacturer of the various marine power components pro- vides an owner’s information manual with their product.

    Engine Cooling System All marine engines use surface water as a cooling medium. The cooling water enters the system through a water intake in the hull and is expelled through the exhaust system. Water is pumped through the water inlets, circulated through the en- gine block or heat exchanger, and relinquished with the ex- haust gases through the exhaust system.

    Chapter 3: FUEL SYSTEM General The fuel system used in Albemarle boats is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Na- tional Marine Manufacture’s Association, and The American Boat and Yacht Council in effect at the time of manufacture.

    Single Engine Fuel System The single engine diesel fuel system on the 28 Express Fisher- man has two fuel tanks. Each fuel tank has one withdrawal and return line for each engine and the optional generator. The fuel system is equipped with two manual selector valves. One is for the fuel supply and the other is for the fuel return.

    Chapter 4 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM General Your Albemarle is equipped with AC and 12-volt AC Electri- cal Systems. The AC System can draw current from one of two sources, either shore power outlets at dockside or the op- tional generator. The AC system draws current from on board batteries.

    120-Volt AC Electrical System (Optional) The AC system can be fed by either the shore power outlet or by the optional generator. It is wired totally separate from the 12-volt AC system and is equipped with an on board isolation system.

    Chapter 7: DRAINAGE SYSTEMS General Most water is drained by gravity to overboard thru-hull fit- tings located in the hull sides above the waterline. The head compartment shower and cockpit fishbox use sump pump sys- tems for drainage. You should check the drain system and run drainage pumps and macerators frequently to insure the drains are free flowing, the pumps are operating and that the hoses on the thru-hull fittings are secure and not leaking.

    Chapter 8: VENTILATION SYSTEM Cabin Ventilation Ventilation to the cabin area is provided by a deck hatch and two port windows. Deck Hatches The deck hatch is supported in the open position by adjustable hatch adjusters. To close the hatch, release the cams on the hatch adjusters and lower the hatch.

Free Air System A flow of air into the engine compartment is provided by two intake vents located on either side of the deck.
