Installing or replacing a memory module

This section provides instructions on how to install or replace a memory module.
Your computer has two slots for installing or replacing DDR2 DIMMs (double data
rate 2 dual inline memory modules) that provide up to a maximum of 4.0 GB of
system memory.
When installing memory modules, use the following guidelines:
v Use 1.8 V, 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM.
v Use 1 GB or 2 GB memory modules in any combination up to 4 GB.
To install or replace a memory module:
1. Removing the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 86.
2. Lay the computer on its side.
3. Locate the memory slots. See "Identifying parts on the system board" on page
