Chapter 5: Phone Connectivity Settings

Overview

The required phone configurations depend on the model and the carrier's capability to provide
a specific service for you. Network connectivity allows the system to talk to the cellular
carrier's network. A process called pairing is used to configure the connectivity between the
PocketSurfer and the phone.
The term pairing means that we need to make your phone talk to the PocketSurfer so that data
can be transmitted. In simple and broad terms, what we are going to do is use your phone as a
modem to transmit data. In order to do this, and depending on your phone's properties, you
should be able to fit into one of the two following categories:
a. Bluetooth Enabled Phone
b. Cell Phone Adapter (Bluetooth-Adapter)

5a. Pairing with a Bluetooth Phone

Depending on the cell phone manufacturer, there is a specific configuration or setting
procedure that should be followed in order to activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone,
allowing it to pair with the PocketSurfer.
Even though your service provider or carrier should instruct you on the correct
procedure for the activation of this option on your Bluetooth enabled phone, use the
following guidelines for further assistance.
3. On the Phone:
a) Select Connectivity, Initial Set-Up or other menu options to reach the
Bluetooth settings.
