Chapter
Force Point-to-Point Link Mode
to-point links are established, or permits the device to
establish a point-to-point link. The possible field values
are:
Auto
Point-to-point links are established by the
device automatically.
Yes
Enables the device to establish a point-to-point
link. To establish communications over a point-to-
point link, the originating PPP first sends Link Control
Protocol (LCP) packets to configure and test the data
link. After a link is established and optional facilities
are negotiated as needed by the LCP, the originating
PPP sends Network Control Protocols (NCP) packets
to select and configure one or more network layer
protocols. When each of the chosen network layer
protocols has been configured, packets from each
network layer protocol can be sent over the link. The
link remains configured for communications until
explicit LCP or NCP packets close the link, or until some
external event occurs. This is actual switch port link
type. It may differ from the administrative state.
No
Disables point-to-point link.
Migration Check
If at any time the Switch detects STP
BPDUs, including Configuration or Topology Change
Notification BPDUs, it will automatically set the selected
interface to forced STP-compatible mode. However, you
can also use the Migration Check Protocol to manually
verify the appropriate BPDU format (RSTP or STP-
compatible) to send on the selected interfaces.

Spanning Tree > MSTP Instance Settings
MSTP operation maps VLANs into STP instances. Packets
assigned to various VLANs are transmitted along different
paths within Multiple Spanning Tree Regions (MST
Regions). Regions are one or more Multiple Spanning
Tree bridges by which frames can be transmitted. In
configuring MST, the MST region to which the device
belongs is defined. A configuration consists of the name,
revision, and region to which the device belongs.
