TRANSFER MODE
The transfer mode must be specified depending on how the camera is to be used with a computer
or printer. Two transfer-mode options are available in section 4 of the setup menu (p. 73):
To transfer data between the camera and computer. This option must be

selected when moving image files to the computer, or using the camera with
the Kodak EasyShare or DiMAGE Master Lite software.
PictBridge
To print images with a PictBridge compatible printer.

FIRMWARE VERSION

The camera firmware version can be verified in section 4 of the setup
menu (p. 73). Firmware is the software that runs the camera. Select the
menu option to display the firmware version. Press the center button of
the controller to close the window.

DATA-TRANSFER MODE

Read this section carefully before connecting the camera to a computer. The DiMAGE manuals do
not cover the basic operation of computers or their operating systems; please refer to the manual
supplied with your computer.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For the camera to be connected directly to the computer and used as a mass-storage device, the
computer must be equipped with a USB port as a standard interface. The computer and the operat-
ing system must be guaranteed by their manufacturers to support USB interface. The following
operating systems are compatible with the camera:
Mac OS 9.0 ~ 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1.3 - 10.1.5, 10.2.1 ~ 10.2.8, 10.3 ~10.3.9, 10.4 ~ 10.4.1

USB 2.0 data-transfer speed is full-speed mode (12Mbps); high-speed mode (480Mbps) is not avail-
able.
Users with Windows 98 or 98 Second Edition will need to install the driver software on the included
Digital Camera Software CD-ROM (p. 85). No special driver software is required for other Windows
or Macintosh operating systems.
Customers who have bought a previous Konica Minolta DiMAGE or SLR digital camera and have
installed the Windows 98 driver software must repeat the installation procedure. The updated ver-
sion of the driver software included on the supplied Digital Camera Software CD-ROM is required
for the operation of the DiMAGE X1 with a computer. The new software has no affect on the perfor-
mance of the older cameras.
