Cause
The lens is dirty.
The subject was too
close when taking
picture.
The subject or the
camera moved while the
picture was taken.
The subject was too far
away for the flash to be
effective.
Flash mode is set to Off
or Night Shot.
The Video Out setting is
incorrect.
The external device is set
incorrectly.
The camera does not
have a speaker.
The camera may not be
accessing the correct
storage location.
Solution
Clean the lens
(page
Move so there is at least 2.6
feet (0.8 m) between the
camera and the subject.
Hold the camera steady
while taking the picture.
Move so there is no more
than 8.2 feet (2.5 m)
between the camera and the
subject.
When using these modes,
use tripod (or change to
Auto flash mode).
Adjust the camera Video Out
setting (NTSC or PAL,

34).
Refer to the external device's
user's guide.
When the video is
transferred to a computer or
connected to a television,
audio accompanies the
video.
