Selecting an Encryption Key (Conventional Only)

Procedure:

to Key.

Press the Menu Select button directly below Key. The
display shows the last user-selected and stored encryption
key, and the available menu selections.

to scroll through the encryption keys.
OR
Use the keypad to enter the number of the desired key.

Press the Menu Select button directly below Sel to save the
newly selected key and return to the Home screen.
OR

Press
, the PTT button, or the Menu Select button directly
below Exit to exit.
Note:
If the selected key is erased, a momentary keyfail tone
sounds and the display shows Key fail.
OR
If the selected key is not allowed, a momentary illegal
key tone sounds and the display shows Illegal key.

Enabling Secure Transmission

Procedure:

to Sec and Press the Menu Select button directly
below Sec. The display shows
multi-key has been enabled.

Monitor the mode to be sure it is not in use.

Press PTT button to transmit.
Note:
If the selected channel is preprogrammed for clear-
only operation – when you press the PTT button, an
invalid mode tone sounds and the display shows
Clear TX only.
The radio does not transmit until you disable the
secure mode.
The radio can be configured to ignore the clear voice
or insecured transmission when the radio is in secured
transmission. Check with your agent for details.
