Regenerative Braking system Similar to engine braking on engine-powered vehicles, the electric motors act as generators when the accelerator pedal is released or the brake pedal is depressed while driving. In this way, kinetic energy is converted into electric energy, which is then used to charge the battery. The flow of energy during regenerative braking is displayed on the instrument cluster.
