Mutual switching between DIGITAL transmission (Status-LED = orange) and ANALOG
transmission (Status-LED = red) issued by 2-times press of the PTT, while in mode 0-2 (PTT-A)
While in mode 3-9 (PTT-B) you always start a digital transmission with the first press of PTT.
Switching back to analog (if required) is done by pressing PTT twice.
Incoming Digital signals will always be decoded, regardless of the
actually selected mode (eg: if in analog and somebody calling digital).
Adjustment of re ceiver volume:
Over-LED blinking
Over-LED always light
Over-LED off
Adjusting the digital-audio RX level (RX only) has to be done using the volume knob of the
ARD9000, afterwards.
The volume knob of the ARD9000 only changes digital RX volume and does
not have any function during analog reception (by-passed in analog)
DIGITAL IN REAL:
While in Digital-Mode, every transmission is initiated by a Sync-Header. The Sync-Header
has the advantage to compensate -125 Hz to +125 Hz frequency offset. The actual length of
the Sync-Header differs from mode to mode (for example Mode 0 = 1.6 sec, Mode 5 = 1 sec)
During the transmission of a Sync-Burst, better do not speak, otherwise your QSO-partner
could have a problem to recognize the digital header <==> our experience
AOR states a "silence" is already ensured by buffering (delaying) any speech at the beginning
of the transmission.
In SSB you will easily recognize the ending of the Sync-Header by watching your ALC-meter
(maximum peak).
SUMMARY:
Digital-Voice is surely not a Plug & Play mode. Nevertheless, if you are ready to obey the
given hints, there should be nothing in way of a trouble-free entrance to a successful start in
Digital-Voice
All these experiences were determined in hours of radio-to-radio connections. Digital-Voice is
simply great and today we would not like to miss this mode....
...wishing you fun and a good start into Digital -Voice e
