Quick-Start-Guide for AOR ARD9000
carefully reading may make your start into Digital-Voice much easier
We strongly recommend to use the provided speaker-microphone during your first test-
contacts. None of the factory set potentiometer settings, located on the underside of the
device, should be changed. Any adaptation of the work settings assumes experiences in
Digital-Voice as well as a co-hearing receiver or experienced test partner.
Attention especially the digital output setting would have to be carried out very precise.

CONNECTION:
In general it is recommended to connect the ARD9000 to a separate power supply, other than
the one used for the radio. However, attempts have shown that it does not necessarily lead to
complications if the DC power is taken from the same power supply. We managed to use the
ARD9000 and radio connected to the same supply without recognizeable problems - however,
it may vary from setup to setup and you have to check locally – if not working, better step
back to separate power-supplies for radio and ARD9000. Switched-power-supplies seem to
be mostly causing trouble and are not recommended to be used
Wiring the ARD9000 <> radio cable should be taken from the AOR manual. In case your
radio does not offer a PTT-L pin, you have to shortcut this one with GND. Shielded cable as
well as a good frame ground between both units are necessary
Usage of an external speaker, connected to the speaker-out connector, makes listening more
pleasantly
TRX SETTINGS:
TX output should not exceed 50 % of the maximum setting to avoid damage of your final
transistors. The Multi-Carrier-Digital-Signal (36 carriers) puts your final transistors under
stress in maximum power output
AGC setting should be FAST. Minimal required SSB bandwidth is 2.4 kHz - not to be limited
by internal filter settings or build-in DSP units
ALC readout should not exceed 60 % of max. level. Adjusting the max. ALC level should be
done by MIC-gain (TX side)
Your ARD9000 has been properly adjusted at the factory
