  • Page 8 VIVOTEK Hardware Reset Reset Button The reset button is used to reset the system or restore the factory default settings. Sometimes resetting the system can return the camera to normal operation. If the system problems remain after reset, restore the factory settings and install again.

    VIVOTEK Installation Hardware Installation 1. Attach the alignment sticker to the wall. Drill four holes into the wall. Then hammer the supplied plastic anchors into the holes and secure the plate with supplied screws. 2. Fix the intersection bracket to the side of the Network Camera with two screws.

  • Page 25 VIVOTEK Auto Focus There are two options for you to fine-tune the camera focus. Auto Focus Button Press the button, and the camera firmware will automatically perform an auto-sensing process on its vari-focal lens to look for the best focus. The process takes about a minute to complete. This function applies when you see the image is out of focus when the surrounding lighting condition is changed drastically for some reasons.

    VIVOTEK Joystick Settings Enable Joystick Connect to the USB plug of the joystick to a USB port on your management computer. Once a USB joystick is connected, the related joystick configuration will be available on the Client settings window. The joystick should work properly without installing any other driver or software.

    Click Configuration on the main page to enter the camera setting pages. Note that only Administrators can access the configuration page. VIVOTEK provides an easy-to-use user interface that helps you set up your network camera with minimal effort. In order to simplify the user interface, detailed information will be hidden unless you click on the function item.

    VIVOTEK System > General settings This section explains how to configure the basic settings for the Network Camera, such as the host name and system time. It is composed of the following two columns: System, and System Time. When finished with the settings on this page, click Save at the bottom of the page to enable the settings.
  • Page 36 VIVOTEK System time Keep current date and time: Select this option to preserve the current date and time of the Network Camera. The Network Camera’s internal real-time clock maintains the date and time even when the power of the system is turned off.

    VIVOTEK Access log Access log displays the access time and IP address of all viewers (including operators and administrators) in a chronological order. The access log is stored in the Network Camera’s buffer area and will be overwritten when reaching a certain limit.

    VIVOTEK Media > Image This section explains how to configure the image settings of the Network Camera. It is composed of the following four columns: General settings, Picture settings, Exposure, and Privacy mask. General settings Show timestamp and video title in video and snapshots: Enter a name that will be displayed on the title bar of the live video as the picture shown below.

Select both options if the Network Camera is installed upside-down (ex. on the ceiling) to correct the image orientation. Please note that the preset locations will be cleared after flip/mirror.

Please note that if you set Exposure Mode to Auto, detailed configurations will be invalidated since the sensor library will automatically adjust the value according to the ambient light.
  • Page 51 VIVOTEK ■ BLC: When selected, a BLC window will appear on screen meaning that the center of the scene will be taken as a weighed area. This option enables light compensation for images that are too dark or too bright to recognize; for example, for the dark side of objects that is posed against bright sunlight.

The automated focus adjustment function eliminates the needs to physically adjust camera focus. In an outdoor deployment consisting of a large number of cameras, the auto focus function can be very helpful when these cameras become out of focus after days or weeks of operation.

The shorter the duration, the more likely you will get better video quality, but at the cost of higher network bandwidth consumption. Select the intra frame period from the following durations: 1/4 second, 1/2 second, 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, and 4 seconds.
  • Page 61 VIVOTEK JPEG mode is selected, the Network Camera continuously sends JPEG images to the client, producing a moving effect similar to a filmstrip. Every single JPEG image transmitted guarantees the same image quality, which in turn comes at the expense of variable bandwidth usage. Because the media contents are a combination of JPEG images, no audio data is transmitted to the client.

Quality of service guarantees are important if the network capacity is insufficient, especially for real-time streaming multimedia applications. Quality can be defined as, for instance, a maintained level of bit rate, low latency, no packet dropping, etc.

The Differentiated Services (DiffServ) model is based on packet marking and router queuing disciplines.     VIVOTEK Security > HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over SSL) This section explains how to enable authentication and encrypted communication over SSL (Secure Socket Layer). It helps protect streaming data transmission over the Internet on higher security level. Create and Install Certificate Method Before using HTTPS for communication with the Network Camera, a Certificate must be created first.
