Unlocking the device
Turn on the screen by Pressing the Power/Screen lock Key or the Home Key, and enter
the unlock code.
If you forget the unlock code, take the device to a SoftBank Shop.

Updating software

You can update the device to the latest software.
Use a network to determine whether the device needs to be updated to the latest
software and update it if it does.
• T he device is designed to automatically perform some communications, such as
updating software and maintaining a connection with the server.
• U pdating software may take some time. You cannot use the device until the
software update has completed.
• T he software cannot be updated if there is insufficient available memory necessary
for the update.
• C heck that there is sufficient battery charge before executing a software update.
• P erform the software update in a place with good reception and do not move the
device.
• Y ou cannot use other features while updating the software.
• W e recommend that you backup any important data before updating the software
(some downloaded data may not be able to be backed up). While data that is
saved with the device before the software update will stay as is, data may be lost
depending on the status of the device (damaged, etc.). SoftBank Mobile Corp. takes
no responsibility for any loss of data.
• N ever remove the USIM Card or turn off the power during a software update. The
update may fail if you do.
• I f the software upgrade fails, the device may become unusable. Contact Customer
Service if that happens.
• I f the device does not restart after the software update, Hold down the Power/
Screen lock and Volume Key at the same time for longer than seven seconds to
restart the device. If the device still does not restart contact Customer Assistance
(Repairs/Lost Devices) ( ☞ P.117).
