ENGINE IS HARD TO START
Possible causes
Fuel is cloudy or fuel flow is re-
stricted
Air or water in fuel system
Thick carbon deposit at injection
nozzle inlet
Incorrect valve clearance
Leaks from valve
Incorrect fuel injection timing
• Check fuel tank and fuel fi lter.
• Remove water, dirt, or other debris.
• Filter out fuel, and replace the fi lter if contaminated.
• Fuel pump is not working properly due to air in the fuel fi lter or injection line.
Loosen the fuel cap nut and check carefully to obtain proper fuel injection pressure.
• Loosen the air vent screw from the fuel filter and fuel injection pump and bleed all air from
the fuel system.
• Water or dirt in fuel. Clean the injection nozzle and check the nozzle inject for damage.
• Check that the nozzle is working properly. Install new nozzle if necessary.
• Adjust the valve clearance (with the engine cold).

• Polish the valve.
• Adjust the injection timing.
• Injection timing: BTDC 12°(sub port)
