Tie-line Coordinated Dialing
The Norstar ICS Modular's coordinated dialing plan (not available on other Norstar models)
enables a station user to dial stations on another system, connected by Tie lines, the same as if
they were local extensions. This saves the dialing of an extra Tie line access digit, as required
on the Strata DK. However, the Norstar does not provide the Tie line transfer recall feature that
the DK40i and DK424 provides.
System Alarm Indicators
Norstar system alarm message codes are generated to alert the system administrator of certain
system malfunctions. Alarm message codes appear on the LCD of the designated alarm
telephone. The system administrator can then call for service. This is a useful function, but the
user knows when they are experiencing a system problem, even without alarm messages. On
Strata DK systems, service technicians can easily diagnose system problems either on site or
remotely.
