• During pauses in the work, when not in use or
during work on the machine itself (e.g., chang-
ing of the working tools, repairs, cleaning, ad-
justment), pull the mains plug. Do not carry the
machine by the cable.
• Always direct the cable to the rear away from
the machine.
• Keep the tool and accessories out of the reach
of children.
• When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and provide for a secure
stance.
• Persons under 16 years of age are not permit-
ted to operate this machine.
• Bosch can ensure flawless functioning of the
when original accessories are
machine only
used.
Changing the tool
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
With the SDS-plus tool holder, simpler
and easier tool chaging is possible with-
out additional aids.
The SDS-plus tool is designed to be
freely movable. This causes eccentricity when
the appliance is off-load.
However, the drill automatically centres itself dur-
ing operation.
This does not affect drilling precision.
Take care that the dust protection cap 1 is not
damaged when changing tools.
Inserting:
Clean and lightly oil the tool before inserting.
Insert the dust-free tool into the tool holder with
twisting until it latches. The tool locks itself.
Check the locking by pulling on the tool.
Removing:
Pull the locking sleeve 2 to the rear and hold
while removing the tool.

Drill with cylindrial shaft
Do not use tools without SDS-plus for ham-
mer drilling or chiselling!
Steel, wood and plastic can be drilled with the
ring gear chuck (accessory) and the correspond-
ing adapter (accessory).
Twist the mounted dust-free drill chuck into the
tool-holding fixture and push in until it engages.
The chuck locks automatically. Pull on the drill
chuck to check that it is locked.
Set the impact stop switch 7 to Drilling (only
activate when the drill is at a standstill).
Before use
Before starting work always examine
the working area for concealed electric
lines, gas and water pipes, e. g. with a
metal detector.
Always use the correct supply voltage.
The voltage of the power source must agree
with the information on the nameplate of the ma-
chine.
Machines for 230 V can also be used on 220 V
power sources.
The power cord and plug must be in perfect con-
dition.
Putting into operation
Temporary operation
• On: Press On/Off switch 8.
• Off: Release On/Off switch.
Continuous operation
• On: Press On/Off switch 8 and engage inter-
lock 9.
• Off: Press On/Off switch 8 and release.
Speed control (GBH 2-24 DSE)
Speed can be adjusted during operation by in-
creasing or decreasing the pressure on the On/
Off switch 8.
This enables holes to be drilled slowly in smooth
surfaces, e.g. tiles, and prevents the drill from
slipping. Splitting of drilled materials can also be
avoided.
Approx. Values
• Hammer Drilling in Concrete or Stone: press
the On/Off switch 8 to the maximum position.
• Drilling in Steel or Wood: press the On/Off
switch 8 to the middle position.
