    Location Place your DDA200BT within 2 meters of the main power socket and telephone socket. Make sure it is at least 1 meter away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference. Your DDA200BT works by sending radio signals between the handset and base.

    Battery low warning If the <BATTERY icon> flashes in the handset display you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again. During charging, the <BATTERY icon> will appear to be filling in the display. Battery performance In ideal conditions, a fully charged battery should give up to 12 hours talk time, or 160 hours standby time, on a single charge.

    Bluetooth setup To use a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone with your DDA200BT, you must first pair and connect your Bluetooth device(s) with the DDA200BT. All DDA200BT handsets can be used to make or answer calls on the mobile phone line.

    Only devices on the active devices list can establish a Bluetooth connection with the DDA200BT. Although two paired devices can be connected to the DDA200BT, only one Bluetooth mobile phone or a headset can be on a call at a time.

    Note: Even though the active device is removed from the active devices list, it is still on the paired devices list Change PIN You are required to enter a PIN when establishing a Bluetooth connection. The default Pin of your DDA200BT is 0000. 1. In standby mode, press MENU/SELECT then UP/DOWN to select Bluetooth.

    Last download aborted: MM/DD/YY Press OK. You need to download the phonebook again. If you are downloading a phonebook from a mobile phone and the DDA200BT loses power, the downloading process stops. When you try to view the phonebook, the handset displays No entries found. Try downloading from SIM or Phone only Press OK.

    You can connect a maximum of two Bluetooth enabled mobile phones to the DDA200BT, but only one mobile phone can be used on a mobile line call at a time. All DDA200BT handsets can be used to make or answer calls on the mobile phone line.

    Using a Bluetooth headset You can use a Bluetooth headset on home line calls. However, you will need to stay within 30 feet from the DDA200BT to maintain the Bluetooth signal. To answer a home line call using a Bluetooth headset Press the call key on your headset.

    Hold You can place a home or mobile line call on hold. You will hear an alert tone if you have not taken the call off of hold after 14 minutes. You will hear another alert tone 30 seconds later.     You may edit any phonebook entry. However, be aware that if you download from a mobile phone again, the phonebook is erased and replaced with the current mobile phone phonebook. If you have edited the downloaded entries on DDA200BT, those changes are lost.

    Settings Handset settings Handset ringer volume Using this menu, you can set the ringer volume level (1-6), or turn the ringer off. When the ringer is turned off, the <RINGER OFF> icon flashes on the handset screen. You can select the ringer volume for the incoming home and mobile line calls. Press MENU/SELECT then UP/DOWN to select Audio.

    Clear voicemail If you subscribe to voicemail service offered by your telephone service provider, new voicemail and <VOICEMAIL icon> appear on the handsets when you have new voicemail messages. Contact your telephone service provider for more information and assistance about using your voicemail service. This feature only works on the voicemail associated with your home line, not the cell line.

    Caller ID If you have subscribed to caller ID services from Telkom, you will be able to see your caller’s number on your handset display (provided it is not blocked) prior to answering the call. If your caller’s name is stored in the phonebook and a number match is found, you will see the caller’s name on the display instead.

    Press UP/DOWN to select one of the following types: • Home • Mobile • Work • Other Press MENU/SELECT. The screen displays EDIT NAME. Use the keypad to edit the name (see entering names in page 23). Press MENU/SELECT to confirm. Delete an Entry in the Call log When in the call log, press UP/DOWN to select the entry you want to delete.

    Switch the answering machine on/off The answering system must be turned on to answer and record messages. When the answering system is turned on, the ANS ON/OFF light on the DDA200BT base will be on and <ANS ON> will display on the handset.

    5. Press MENU/SELECT to confirm. Turn the message alert on/off When the message alert tone is set to On, the DDA200BT base beeps every 10 seconds to alert you of new messages. The tone stops when all new messages have been reviewed.

    Call screening You can listen at the DDA200BT base to a caller leaving a message. If you want to turn off the call screening feature, set the DDA200BT base volume to zero. Remember to raise the volume in order to hear your messages during playback.

  • Page 33: Using The Home And Mobile Lines Together

    If you are on a call using the mobile line, you cannot join the call using your paired mobile phone. However, you can join  the call using another DDA200BT handset. Your mobile phone is being used for the phone call so only features that are normally available during a call can be used.

    Move the handset closer to the DDA200BT base. It might be out of range. • Disconnect the DDA200BT base from the telephone wall socket and connect a different telephone. If there is no dial tone on this telephone either, the problem is in your wiring or local service. Contact Telkom for assistance.
  • Page 35 Sometimes your DDA200BT can interfere with other electrical equipment if it is placed too close. It is recommended that you place your DDA200BT at least one meter away from electrical appliances or metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.

    General information Replacing the handset battery After a time, you may find that the handset battery is running out of charge more quickly. This is a standard sign of wear and the battery will need replacing. Replacement rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery can be purchased from Telkom Direct Stores. Slide off the battery compartment cover and remove existing batteries.
